What Are you Favorite Winter Movies?

Winter is coming, so it’s an appropriate time to ask what are your favorite movies about the season?

For me, The Shining and Fargo are perfect ways to watch on a snowy day (insanity and murder definitely reflect the claustrophobia the cold weather brings).  But what about yourself?

  1. Great question, probably mine has to be The Shining.

    • Thanks! The Shining’s a perfect movie to watch during winter.

  2. A Simple Plan

    • Nice pick!

  3. The Shining, The Snowman, The Muppet Christmas Carol, It’s a Wonderful Life, Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny (solely for doing RiffTrax with my friends).

    • Nice picks! I really like the Rifftrax take on Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny.

      • We did our own RiffTrax of it the other night with some friends who had no idea what they were getting into. Black Swan, Rocky Horror, and Eyes Wide Shut ended up as references over the course of the film.

  4. Good question. Much of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind takes place during winter, including the central narrative. And since that is one of my three favorite films ever, at least of the ones I’ve seen, I’ll to say it.

    • Thanks! I’ve never really thought of Eternal Sunshine as a winter movie, but it perfectly fits the theme.

      • Honestly, I’m also unconvinced it’s a winter movie. But. I love it all the same, so I’m sticking with it. 😉

  5. You’ve named it, Fargo.

    • Nice pick! Fargo’s great to watch during this season.

  6. I pick a classic star and watch all their films in a marathon. Last winter it was Paul Newman. What fine company!

    • I would love to do a Paul Newman marathon. Such a great actor.

  7. Hmmm, it’s an obvious pick but It’s a Wonderful Life *has* to be there. As does Groundhog Day and Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Elf. There are loads of others no doubt that I can’t think of. Nice question my friend.

    • Thanks! It’s A Wonderful Life and Groundhog Day are perfect movies for snowy weather.

  8. Gremlins is always a fun flick to visit around this time of year.

    • Nice pick! I haven’t seen Gremlins, looks like I have to see it.

      • Oh, man. You should definitely do that. It’s a fun flick.

  9. The Holiday and Balto are my fave winter movies! Along with a bunch of Christmas movies when holiday season approaches 🙂

  10. The Shining and Love Actually (guilty pleasure haha).

    • Nice picks! The Shining is a masterpiece, on of my favorite movies.

  11. The Dark Knight and Inception for sure!

    • Those are two great picks!
