Trailer Analysis: To The Wonder (2nd Trailer)

Terrence Malick’s To The Wonder is probably my most anticipated film of the year.  I chose Malick’s The Tree of Life as the best film of 2011, and have been eagerly awaiting his next film for a while now.  I was initially worried Malick may have made the film too quickly (he is known for taking long times working on movies) but I feel To The Wonder will be as great as The Tree of Life.

You know what to expect from a Malick film if you’ve seen any and this has all of his trademarks (the emphasis on nature, the harmonic music, etc.).  The movie stars Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, and Javier Bardem (who, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated actors working today).  I’m very excited to see this film and can’t wait to watch it.

  1. I love Mallick’s work and this just looks incredible…I got goosebumps.

    • Yeah, I can’t wait to see this film.

  2. This is getting mixed expectations from a lot of people. But I know I really excited to see the film. Can’t wait.

    • I’m really excited for this as well. Malick is a great director.

  3. Another one to put on my “to-watch” list. Oh, I need to tell you that I’ve nominated you for an award. just follow the link!

  4. Nice post. I’m really looking forward to this one !:)

    • I as well. I’m a huge Terrence Malick fan and I can’t wait to see it.

  6. I have nominated you for the Dragon’s Loyalty Award.

  7. Apparently Terrence Malick finally made the film that his detractors have accused him of making all along. I’m keeping an open mind but the critics have savaged this. Worst reviews of his career actually.

    • I’ve only read two reviews, one from Richard Corliss (of Time Magazine) and one from Todd McCarthy (of The Hollywood Reporter). Both were pretty much polar opposites of each other with Corliss praising the movie and McCarthy criticizing it. I’m still looking forward to this and I kind of expected this to happen as Malick’s films tend to be very polarizing. Thanks for commenting.

  8. This one reminds me a lot of Tree of Life, and that’s not a bad thing. I’m very intrigued by it, though I never thought of Olga as a very strong actress.

    • I don’t think I’ve ever been huge on her before as well, but I thought she was good in the trailer. TTOL was my favorite movie of 2011, so I’m really looking forward to this. Thanks for commenting.

  9. Haven’t seen Tree of Life and only found out about this in the past week and I am psyched to see this one – it looks so amazing!

    • I’m psyched as well. The Tree of Life is an amazing movie I think you’d really like.

      • I’ll definitely add it to my list then. 🙂

  10. I like your blog! The Tree of LIfe was fascinating, and I look forward to watching To the Wonder.

    • Thanks! It is a great movie and I can’t wait to see it.

  11. I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award.
