LAFC Proves The Master is “The Master,” Also Crowns Amour and Zero Dark Thirty

Amour won Best Picture from the LAFC

As awards season starts winding down, we’ll be seeing plenty of more accolades go to The Master and last night the Los Angeles Film Critics’ Circle anointed it as the victor.  While Amour picked up the biggest prize of the night, The Master took home many awards including Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress.  While PTA’s newest film may be too polarizing to garner Best Picture on Oscar night, it certainly will have a big presence.  Another winner was Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty, which received Best Editing and was also named a runner-up for Best Director.  See the full list below.

Best documentary: The Gatekeepers (Runner-up: Searching for Sugar Man)
Best screenplay: Chris Terrio, Argo (Runner-up: David O. Russell, Silver Linings Playbook)
Best cinematography: Roger Deakins, Skyfall (Runner-up: Mihai Malaimare Jr., The Master)
Best editing: Dylan Tichenor and William Goldenberg, Zero Dark Thirty (Runner-up: William Goldenberg, Argo)
Best music score: Dan Romer and Benh Zeitlin, Beasts of the Southern Wild (Runner-up: Jonny Greenwood, The Master)
