Editor’s Note: Hurricane Sandy

If you’ve been following the news for the past few days, you’ve probably heard about the hurricane that’s currently hitting the east coast.  And things have gotten really, really bad.  There’s a lot of flooding, power outages, and some evacuations in nearby areas.

This has unfortunately means that I won’t be posting for a while.  I’m currently writing this up on my phone instead of my laptop.  But don’t worry.  Once the hurricane is over (which will probably end around Thursday) I’ll be sure to write some reviews later this week.

  1. Stay safe.

  2. Stay safe, my friend. We’re all in the basement, waiting for Sandy to strike at midnight. I just finished watching Friday the 13th (AMC FearFest; amazingly, the power has not gone out), and the storm is much more terrifying, lol.

Also, I thought you’d get a kick out of this picture:

    • Fortunately there hasn’t been too much flooding around the area. That’s a cool picture by the way. Hope you liked Friday the 13th. Thanks!

      • It’s kind of funny, about Friday the 13th: the movie itself was abysmal, but I’d love to give it another go, and I have Parts 2, 3, and 4 (4 was “the final chapter”, so although 5-10 were available, I used my better judgment in not recording them) on the DVR. Is it Mischief Night (Day) already!? Wow.

Also, I saw your favorite of last year, The Tree of Life. Beautiful movie, best cinematography I’ve ever seen (honestly), and I don’t know how Hugo could have taken home that Academy Award instead. My review should be up Friday, in between Thelma & Louise and Friday the 13th. Cheers!

      • Thanks! After watching The Tree of Life, I’ve become a pretty big fan of Terrance Malick (since then I’ve seen Badlands and have had The Thin Red Line on my watch list for a while).

I heard there was a Friday the 13th movie where Jason is in outer space and a friend told me there was also a Jason vs. RoboCop movie (I don’t know if he was kidding or not).

      • The one with Jason in outer space is called Jason X. It earned not half a star from Roger Ebert, who wrote: “I left the movie knowing one thing for sure: There will be a “Jason XI”–or, given the IQ level of the series, “Jason X, Part 2.””

I don’t know about Jason vs. RoboCop, but early last decade, there was a Freddy vs. Jason.

  3. Grab a flashlight or candles, and a something to read if the power goes out.

  4. Stay safe!
