Life Itself to be made into a movie

Roger Ebert’s memoir is going to be made into a movie

Last year when it came out, I immediately bought and read Life Itself, Roger Ebert’s autobiography.  I have long respected Ebert as I have read his reviews as long as I can remember.  I am an enormous fan of Siskel and Ebert, and think that he is perhaps the most influential film critic ever.

So I was pleasantly surprised to here that Life Itself is going to be made into a film. And there is some really big talent working on the project.  Martin Scorsese will be an executive producer, Steve Zallian, who wrote Schindler’s List, will be screenwriter, and Steve James, who made Hoop Dreams, will be director.

Now this is a film I’m going to see.  I suggest you read Life Itself before the movie, it’s a fantastic read.

  1. Great post, I’m sure the film will be an interesting watch indeed.

    • Thanks! I’m eagerly awaiting it.

  2. Oh, that’s awesome! I had no idea this was going to be made.
I have a signed copy of the book that I have yet to read…

    • I heard it recently and was really excited. The book is really good, and I highly recommend it.

      • My dad read it because he and Ebert had similar upbringings and he really enjoyed it. I wanted to tackle his Scorsese book first.
