Liebster Blog Award

Alexander at Cinemaniac Reviews was nice enough to nominate me for the Liebster Blogger Award!  For it, I, along with the ten other nominees, have to do the following.

1. Each person must post eleven things about themselves
2. Answer the eleven questions the person giving the award has set for you
3. Create eleven questions for the people you will be giving the award to
4. Choose eleven people to award and send them a link to your post
5. Go to their page and tell them
6. No tag backs

Okay, so here are eleven facts about myself.

1. Other than films and television, comics are my greatest passion.

2. When I first saw it, I didn’t see what was so great about Citizen Kane.  Now it’s one of my favorites of all time.

3. One of my best friends really liked Just Go With It.  I always make fun of him because of that.

4. Though I’m not a video game fanatic, I have spent many hours playing Portal.

5. Once I saw a barracuda.

6. I have never been able to watch through Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers because of the ultra-violent opening scene.

7. I am possibly the only person in the world who didn’t love The Shawshank Redemption.

8. When I was younger, I used to buy family members movies that I was interested in.  They were not happy about that.

9. There once was a time where I said The Phantom Menace was the best of the Star Wars saga (I’ve changed since then).

10. Francis Ford Coppola will always be my favorite director of all time, no matter how many bad films he makes.

11. I once had a dream where I realized I was in a dream.  I then woke up but it turns out I was still in a dream.  And that was before Inception!

Now I have to answer the 11 questions.

1. What movie do you wish you had never seen?

I’m ashamed to say I saw Transformers: Dark of the Moon in theaters.  I wouldn’t have gone, but a friends asked me to go.

2. What movie have you heard nothing but praise for, but still have absolutely no desire to see (come on, you know it happens with all of us)?

I might say Natural Born Killers, though I did see the opening scene.  I saw that when I was pretty young, though, so I might change my mind.

3. Have you seen the entire filmography of one director?  If so, who?

Sadly, I have not seen every single film of any of my favorite directors like Stanley Kubrick or Martin Scorsese.  I’m ashamed to say that I’ve seen all three of Coleman Francis’ movies.

4. Have you ever been to a film festival?

I got to go to the Tribeca Film Festival back in April.

5. What was the first movie you saw in theaters?

I can’t recall that, sadly.  I can’t remember any of the early films I’ve seen.

6. Have you ever met a famous filmmaker/actor/actress?  If so, who?

I met Michael Moore at the Tribeca Film Festival.  I’ve also seen Rowan Atkinson in a play and I once saw Donald Trump.  When I attended a taping of The Daily Show, I saw Jon Stewart (obviously) and Jennifer Aniston.

7. What Academy Award winning film(s) do you not particularly care for?

I hold grudges against Dances with WolvesShakespeare in Love, Chariots of Fire, and Rocky for beating out far better movies for Best Picture.

8. What is your favorite quote in a movie?

I’m as mad as hell, and I can’t take it any more!

Network

9. What is the most confusing movie you’ve seen?

Mission Impossible.  I had no idea what was happening in the movie at all.

10. What is your vote for the most pointless movie made thus far?

I’d say Grown Ups, which I think was just an excuse for Adam Sandler and his friends to go on a paid vacation. Even worse, they expect you to pay to watch it.

11. Do you talk during movies?

During bad movies, I’ll riff MST3K-style (at home, not in theaters).  If it’s something good, I’ll pay full attention to it.

Update: Since I love answering more questions, I’ll take more from Andy of Andy Watches Movie, another great film blog.

1. Favorite scene in a film?

I might have to go with the Copacabana scene from GoodFellas.

2. Worst performance by your favorite actor/actress?

I’d probably have to pick Jack Nicholson for Anger Management.  Though he actually wasn’t bad in it, the film was bad overall and I just felt disappointed in him.  I’d also have to choose Robert DeNiro for those Meet the Parents films.

3. Name your top 10 actors and actresses.

(In no particular order)

Jack Nicholson, Robert DeNiro, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, Marlon Brando, Gregory Peck, Charlie Chaplin, Robert Duvall, Al Pacino, Tom Hanks

No, I don’t have anything against actresses.  These are the ones that just came off the top of my head.

4. Favorite film poster?

Jaws.  That’s the one that really is cemented in my mind.  GoodFellas comes in a close second.

5. Coolest thing in your movie collection?

My Godfather DVD set.  It’s loaded with interviews and commentary, and I could literally spend days going over it.

6. What movie have you heard nothing but praise for, but still have absolutely no desire to see?

I might say Natural Born Killers, though I did see the opening scene.  I saw that when I was pretty young, though, so I might change my mind.

7. Have you seen the entire filmography of one director?  If so, who?

Sadly, I have not seen every single film of any of my favorite directors like Stanley Kubrick or Martin Scorsese.  I’m ashamed to say that I’ve seen all three of Coleman Francis’ movies (though, to be fair, on MST3K).

9. What is your favorite quote in a movie?

I’m as mad as hell, and I can’t take it any more!

10. Movie you’re ashamed to bought?

I can’t think of any in particular.  I have a bunch of Godzilla films, but I love watching them because of their cheesiness, and am not afraid to admit it.

11. Favorite TV show?

Without question The Simpsons.  Though the show’s far past its prime, I will always love it no matter what.

Another update, this time Thomas Priday of On Topic Reviews nominated me.  Here are the new questions.

1. What is your favorite movie?

The Godfather.  It’s an absolute classic that I think pretty much aces every field in filmmaking.

2. What is your favorite genre of music?

Rock music.  It’s really the only genre I listen to, other than some movie soundtracks and an occasional classical piece.

3. How many times do you eat fast food a week or month?

About once a month.

4. Is there any particular type of film you prefer?

I tend to watch mostly dramas, though that might be pretty broad.  I tend to like character-based films.

5. What is your favorite TV show?

The Simpsons is my personal favorite show, though it’s far past it’s prime.

6. English/literacy or maths?

I’m the best at math.

7. Chemistry, biology or psychics?

Hmmm.  I’d have to pick psychics.

8. What is your favorite magazine?

I don’t really read magazines other than Time and Rolling Stone.

9. Best experience in your life?

This is tough.  Since I’m so obsessed with films, probably when I went to visit the Warner Bros. set or when I got to go to the Tribeca Film Festival.

10. Most desired holiday destination?

I love skiing, so I’d go to Vail.

11. If you could travel back in time to any recorded event, which would it be?

I bet most people are going to say something like saving Abraham Lincoln or killing Hitler, so I want to do something a little bit more original.  I’d have to say I would have loved attending an original premiere to one of my favorite films.  Just to see them on the screen would be really cool.

Now here are eleven questions you have to answer if I pass it to you.

1. What’s a movie that you think is terrible but you enjoy anyway?

2. What movie received positive reviews but you don’t like?

3. Is there a movie which you disliked the first time but liked later?

4. If you can meet any director/actor/producer, who would it be?

5. If you could change one award at the Oscars, which one would it be?

6. If there was one movie you could watch over and over for the rest of your life, what would it be?

7. What film would you like to see a remake of?

8. Do you refuse to watch any movie from a certain actor or director just because you didn’t like one of their films?

9. Who is your favorite director?

10. Which film do you wish had never been made?

11. What is your favorite moment in any film?

Now I have to pass this one to eleven different bloggers.
