Trailer Analysis: The Master

I talked about Paul Thomas Anderson’s newest film, The Master, before.  I was intrigued by the teaser, but really didn’t understand what was happening.  Now after viewing the newest trailer, which gives more of the plot, my eagerness has shot up.

The film has two great actors in it, Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and one of my favorite actresses, Amy Adams.  And we all know how great of a director Anderson is.  He’s the only guy who made a good movie with Adam Sandler in it.

The Master has shot up to be one of my most anticipated films of the year.  It looks like an awards darling, and I wouldn’t be surpised if it becomes one.

  1. Great post, I’m sure I will see this film as I enjoyed Magnolia many years ago.

    • Yeah, I think it looks great too. This and Lincoln are my most anticipated films of the year.

  2. I place the few trailers I see into two groups: interesting and other. This is definitely interesting. The trailer for There Will Be Blood was probably interesting, too, and I was not left satisfied (in the least) by that film, but The Master looks more subtle than that film was. I have high hopes.

    • I enjoyed There Will Be Blood, though it’s not a film for everyone. Paul Thomas Anderson has a knack for making those kinds of films. I also have really high hopes for The Master, and I think it looks pretty good as well. Thanks for commenting.

  3. […] Master on two other occasion for Trailer Analysis’s, one for the teaser and one for the first trailer.  Based on those two, I thought The Master has a good chance at being the best film of the year. […]
