They’re Never Too Early: Oscar Predictions 2012

Yes, despite the fact the Oscar nominations aren’t coming until six more months, I read some Oscar predictions from my favorite online awards site Gold Derby, which makes predictions for all awards show (you can read up their Emmy predictions too).

For Best Picture, Lincoln has the highest chance with a 13/5 odds. That doesn’t surprise me there, considering that it’s made by Steven Spielberg, one of my favorite directors of all time, and it has Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln.  It’s also my most anticipated film of the year.

Anyway, other films mentioned are some I’ve heard about, such as Django UnchainedLife of PiThe Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Zero Dark Thirty.  Others I haven’t include The Masters and Hyde Park on Hudson, which has greatly built my enthusiasm on those two.

As for the director category, I’m a little surprised to see Quentin Tarintino, Terrance Mallick, and Peter Jackson off the list.  But then again it’s June right now, so anything could happen.  The Artist didn’t become an Oscar contender until November.

(Oh yeah.  I’m also interested in seeing David Chase’s Not Fade Away.  I think it’s also supposed to James Gandolfini, and as a Sopranos fan, it definitely is worth seeing).
