Trailer Analysis: Prometheus

One of my favorite directors is Ridley Scott, who I think doesn’t receive enough appreciation from most.  He’s made some of the best sci-fi movies there is (Blade Runner and Alien anybody?), plus one of the best action movies in recent memory (Gladiator, which is far superior than Mel Gibson’s Braveheart).

But Scott’s turning back to what made him a star: science fiction.  Prometheus looks like one of the most promising films of the year, and it’s supposed to be a prequel to Alien, sort of (Scott said everything will be explained in the last 15 minutes).

I saw the first trailer a while ago, and the second today, and I’m eagerly anticipating the film.  Not only because Scott’s directing it, but because of its A-star cast, which includes both Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron.

Science fiction has died down the past few years, with big flops and critical disappointments like John CarterCowboys and Aliens, and The Thing.  But this year, Ridley Scott will show what the master of the sci-fi can do.
