Game of Thrones gets a third season, Breaking Bad split into two

Good news for Game of Thrones fans: the series has just gotten a renewal by HBO for a third season.  The show opened up its second season with both critical acclaim and a ratings record (3.8 million viewers).  I saw a bit of the first episode of season two and really liked it (as I said before, I want to read the books first, which I have really found to enjoy).

Also, AMC has announced that Breaking Bad will have its final season split into two.  Similar to the final season of The SopranosBreaking Bad will air its first 8 episodes later this year, have a 4-month hiatus, and then air its final 8 episodes.

It’s going to be sad to see a great show go, as Breaking Bad can be called one of the greatest dramas of TV (Steven King said it was the best TV show ever recently).  I guess the 8-episode split would make it seem like two seasons, which cheers me up.

  1. Breaking Bad… it is one of the best shows ever! I can’t understand how others question the greatness of it. There is something for everyone plus the acting is great allowing the writing to take on life from the pages. I am sad to see it go BUT appreciate the art and wisdom of the creators to know when a story is done.

    • It’s surely a show that will be remembered forever like The Sopranos and The Wire.

  2. I will be incredibly sad when Breaking Bad is done for good. So much talent.

    • I’m going to be sad too. It had a great run though, but TV’s going to be really different without it.
