The Oscars: My Expectations

This is going to be a short and perhaps my last post before the Oscars.  I’ve already posted predictions, the Oscars’ strategy this year, and why I think The Descendants should win.  This one is going to be on what I expect is going to happen tonight.

1. A Good Performance.  Billy Crystal is going to be hosting, which is a guarantee for a strong monologue and I expect him to quicken the show’s pace from last year.

2. Good winners.  Despite some offbeat nominees, I think the critics’ words shall prevail.  The Artist looks like it’ll take Best Picture, and even now most people are betting Viola Davis will beat Meryl Streep for The Iron Lady (a poorly plotted film that Streep is the only redeeming factor for).

3. A Short Show.  Last year the show went only a few minutes past 12.  This year I think they’ll keep it at the same time.  They even cut down the Best Song nominees and stated there will be no performances for the songs.  Maybe the show will actually end at at 11:30, its scheduled time.

4. Uggy!  Who doesn’t want to see the canine star of The Artist on the stage?
