Final Oscar Picks: They’re Coming Up, So I’m Going Fast

The Oscars nominees will come this Tuesday.  I’ll put up a post to assess the nominees, but I’ll post my final Best Picture predictions.  Here they are (ranking from most to least likely to be nominated).

1. The Artist

2. The Descendants

3. Hugo

4. The Help

5. War Horse

6. Midnight in Paris

7. Moneyball

8. Tree of Life

9. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

10. Bridesmaids

Now, here are the major changes from last time I wrote my predictions.

First off, the top two are the same.  Hugo has risen, thanks to winning Best Director at the Globes and for Best Picture at the National Board of Review.  The Help has also risen to fourth, thanks for winning many awards for its acting.  Unfortunately, War Horse has been a victim to multiple snubbings and has fallen down to fifth.  Moneyball has also fallen, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is out, but Bridesmaids has entered the race.

The Oscars will pick from 5 to 10 Best Picture nominees this year (I don’t know why), so the only guarantees are the top 5.  Anyway, enjoy the Oscar nominees, and feel free to comment below.

  1. Bridesmaids is a great movie but I’m surprised it might be a contender for best picture. I agree with your other picks.

    • It’s gathered up a lot of steam from critics and award shows. It could get a nomination from this.

      • Yeah, I feel like Bridesmaids has the potential to get a Best Picture nomination. With ten nominees, the Academy is probably going to throw one to a comedy, and Bridesmaids was easily the biggest comedy this year.

      • Bridesmaids does have a good shot, but the one thing that might get it kicked off is the new Academy rules, which state that the Best Picture nominee has to have a certain percent of people picking it as first.
