Trailer Analysis: The Dictator

Sasha Baron Cohen is a funny comedian, but has one problem: most people know him from The Ali G Show as Ali G, Borat, and Bruno.  All three have spun off movies, from the critically maligned Ali G in Da House (I think that’s what it’s called), to the laugh out loud and hugely offensive Borat, and the disappointing followup Bruno.

After Bruno, Cohen has changed to more serious films.  He was in this year’s Hugo and will star in the upcoming Django Unchained.  But in The Dictator, he pretty much plays his usual persona again.

The story we can tell from the trailer, Cohen plays a dictator similar to the likes of Saddam Hussein who comes to America.  The trailer has laughs, and is now pretty relevant due to Gahdaffi’s death a few months ago.  It also looks like it’s scripted, when both Borat and Bruno were not.  I guess you’ll watch it if you like Sacha Baron Cohen or not.
