Winner of the Republican Debates: Comedians

With all these republican debates, the poll numbers have been switching for all these candidates.  Rick Perry, Michelle Bachman, Herman Cain, and Newt Gingerinch have all been in first, than collapsed due to scandal (Herman Cain), bad responses (Michelle Bachman, Rick Perry, Herman Cain), and, well, just bad ideas (Newt Gingerinch, and yet again Herman Cain).  Who is the winner of these debates?  The Comedians.

Now, in literal sense, the Republican nominee is most likely now going to Mitt Romney.  Romney has yet to pull bad press, unlike the other candidates, but many republicans feel he’s too liberal.  However, Romney has always been either first or second in the polls.

The real winners, however, are the comedians.  The Republican Debates have provided Late Show Hosts plenty of laughs, especially on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.  Jon Stewart’s rapid fire jokes on the Republican candidates have been the funniest of the year, and this includes his bit on Donald Trump eating pizza with a fork.

The Colbert Report has also been cruising with jokes too.  Stephen Colbert’s blowhard Republican impression has made terrific comic foil for commentary on the Republican debates, plus I cannot get enough of the Super Pac.

Even the nonpolitical comics outside of Comedy Central are digging in to this comic gold.  From Jimmy Kimmel’s cartoons of Rick Perry and Mitt Romney arguing to David Letterman’s Top 10 List featuring Rick Perry, network television is making full use of the Republican debates.

I’m guessing that Romney will win the nomination.  Whether he can beat Obama in the election, I’m not sure.  A lot could change within the next year.  Hopefully, we’ll still get laughs.
