The Return of Arrested Development

It is no secret comedy has fallen these past few years.  But now, the best comedy of the decade is back.  That’s right, it is the return of Arrested Development.

At the New Yorker Festival at New York City, Mitchell Hurwitz, the show’s creator, announced plans for a nine to ten AD miniseries planned to air on either Showtime or Netflix, which finally gives you a good excuse to watch Showtime.

The new episodes will focus on each family member and act as a prelude to the Arrested Development movie.  Hurwitz has said he finished half the script for the movie, and that the show will be filmed this summer and air either next fall, or early 2013.

To an enormous Arrested Development fan, this is the best news of the decade so far, if it is true.  Okay, I hate to be doubtful, but every year or so, a rumor of the Arrested Development movie pops up.

But it seems this time its true.  I am a little worried that Hurwitz might George Lucas the Arrested Development series, but I am sure that it will succeed.  Now, who wants to go to the Banana Stand?
