I did not see enough bad movies to make a list (I avoided That’s My Boy, Battleship, and other critically derided films), but I have seen one that was just jaw-droppingly bad. It surprised me how awful it was, and my expectations were already pretty low to begin with. It comes from a man who has throughout the past decade made many terrible films and this is arguably his worst.

There were a thousand words but zero laughs
Yeah, Eddie Murphy’s latest film, A Thousand Words, was my least favorite film of the year. You can see my review for my full thoughts, but let me just tell you it was one of the unfunniest films I have seen in recent years. I like Eddie Murphy’s older work, but his recent string of films have ruined any bit of credibility I had for him. Hopefully he’ll find a good project.
But I’d be interested in hearing your choices. Do you want to take a swipe at Adam Sandler or Taylor Kitsch? Please comment below.

My number one worst movie of the year for my list was The Devil Inside. Bad… so bad.

I didn’t see that one but I heard it was terrible.

I had the unfortunate experience of seeing this film on TV and… I knew it was bad but not this bad. I don’t know what Eddie Murphy sees in a hack like Brian Robbins but this is definitely the worst collaboration of their career. Not only is it not funny but it ends up being overly sentimental in the worst way. For me, this was the final straw of what Eddie Murphy has become. I will cherish everything he’s done in the 80s and some bits in the 1990s as well as Dreamgirls but I will never watch anything new that he does ever again.

Yeah. I like Eddie Murphy’s old work but he’s really taken a bad turn within the last ten years.

I didn’t nor will I ever see this movie. I’m sure your choice is impeccable.

Yeah, this movie was terrible. It makes Pluto Nash look like Dr. Strangelove in comparison. Thanks for commenting.

Ya know, Eddie Murphy has developed a habit of making these kinds of lists!

Yeah, he’s usually a repeat offender. I don’t know which is worse, this or Norbit. Thanks for commenting.

I dont know that this will finally win my “Worst” or not, that final decision is still pending… but let me say that this movie was put in my ten worst list the MINUTE I left the theatre LOL. Its terrible, you’re 100% right. Is it the absolute worst? We’ll see… but it sure as hell is a solid candidate!
Definitely in my worst ten!

Ya know, I don’t think I even remember this coming out! Sounds like I haven’t missed out on anything though!

It was pretty forgettable and bombed at the box office. It’s pretty much at the level of every Eddie Murphy comedy of the past ten years. Thanks for commenting.

Thanks goodness I haven’t seen this one and the other two you mentioned. In fact, I haven’t seen any Eddie Murphie movie in a good while, for good reason!

Oh yeah, I’ve avoided a lot of his recent movies as well. I’m still wondering why I saw this. Thanks for commenting.

I honestly don’t know what was my pick for the worst movie of the year, but this one definitely runs very high up there. Poor, Eddie Murphy. Just when you think he’s back from the dead and being humorous once again, he goes back to doing trite shit like this. Good review.

Yeah. I really wish Murphy would try to make something like Beverly Hills Cop again instead of these lame movies. I think he still has the potential to star in a good movie but he has to get a better casting agent. Thanks for commenting.

Yeah, I really wish he’d star in a movie like Beverly Hills Cop again. His latest string of movies have all been pretty bad. Thanks for commenting.

I would say Freelancers would be my pick as worst of 2012. DeNiro and 50 cent really stink up the screen good. A Thousand Words would be my second choice though.

Oh, any movie with 50 Cent in it is automatically going to be bad (I can’t believe De Niro would star in a movie with him). Glad you agree A Thousand Words was bad too. Thanks for commenting.
